DAVID TEPPER TO KICKOFF SCHOOL YEAR WITH BACKPACK AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES DISTRIBUTION IN THE CAROLINAS
Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper will head south in the spirit of spreading some goodwill in the Carolinas according to a recent press release by the team.
The Kickoff event to feature “encouragement rally” for students at Forest Heights Elementary School in Columbia on Thursday, August 22
The David A. Tepper Charitable Foundation, John M. Belk Endowment, US Foods, Classroom Central and Carolina Panthers Charities are partnering to provide more than 15,000 backpacks with school supplies to resource-challenged students in Richland County (S.C.) School District One, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and the Wake County (N.C.) Public School System. Each district will receive 5,000 backpacks with school supplies.
The two-state distribution will kick off with a high energy “encouragement rally” for 500 students at Columbia’s Forest Heights Elementary School on Thursday, August 22. Nineteen other selected Richland One schools will receive backpacks with school supplies through the program.
Additional back-to-school encouragement rallies and school distributions will be held in Garner, N.C. on August 27 and in Charlotte on August 30.
The program is funded through a joint partnership between the David A. Tepper Charitable Foundation, John M. Belk Endowment, US Foods and Carolina Panthers Charities. Classroom Central is coordinating the multi-school distribution.
“Ensuring that students have the basic resources they need for the classroom is critical for their confidence, development and success,” said Panthers Owner David Tepper. “I am proud to team up with our community partners for this important effort.”
