PANTHERS THURSDAY UPDATE: Phil Snow talks about the keys to limiting Saquon Barkley

As the Carolina Panthers get set to travel to New York for their week-2 matchup against the Giants, one of the biggest concerns is how well the Panthers' defense will be at stopping the run.

Things did not go well against the Browns with efforts to contain Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The pair rushed for a combined 187 yards on 33 carries. Chubb made up a bulk of the attack with with 141 yards and a 6.4 yards per carry average.

This week, the team will have to slow down Saquon Barkely who, unlike Chubb or Hunt, is a true downhill rusher with a better ability to convert on third downs. In his week-1 performance, Barkley rushed for 164 yards on 18 carries as part of a romp that earned him NFC offensive player of the week honors.

Panthers defensive coordinator Phil Snow has his concerns but also has a plan on the area where the team needs to limit Barkley most. "The key to stopping great tail backs is making them go east and west," Snow said in Thursday's press conference.

"We have our hands full with Barkley."

Other areas Snow listed as places where tweaks are needed were establishing better angles and limiting long third down conversions.

There will be a close eye on the injury list this week as Marquis Haynes, Frankie Luvu and Brandon Smith all had limited participation on Thursday.

Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. ET at Metlife Stadium.
