Panthers key weapons ruled out for Sunday matchup with C.J. Stroud, Texans

By Kevin Tolbert

On Friday, the Carolina Panthers held their final practice before their matchup with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans this Sunday at Bank of America stadium.

And while both teams have a list of key players injured, The panthers continue to see a range of issues affecting the roster.

Brian Burns was a non participant in practice during Friday's practice. Kamu Grue-Jay Hill, Taylor Moton, Xavier Woods and Frankie Luvu as well as Burns were all listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. But no matter what scenario the Panthers have to face on Sunday linebacker Frankie Luvu doesn't plan to let it affect his mindset. "It's hard to stay healthy. We play a violent sport, physical sport and ...we got a lot of injuries right now but I can say for myself, I'm playing," Luvu said.

Safety Vonn Bell and the Panthers Multi-threat option on offense Lavishka Shenault have both been ruled out for Sunday's game.

Shack Thompson, Jaycee horn Jeremy chin, Ytor Gross-Matos and Marcus Haynes Sr. still remain on IR.

But the team did get some good news. Mile Sanders was a full participant in Friday's practice as well as Guard Austin Corbett. And according to head coach Frank Reich, Corbett will start on Sunday at right Guard with Calvin Throckmorton starting at left Guard.

And when the offense takes the field this Sunday offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will be calling the plays for the first time this season. But Reich says that he will still be involved, and remains confident that the transition from him to Brown will not be problematic.

The Panthers host the Texans this Sunday at 1 PM at Bank of America Stadium.
