NBA Draft News: Bruno Fernando works out for Hornets, confident about 2019 NBA Draft (HIGHLIGHTS)

On Sunday, the Charlotte Hornets held their seventh pre-draft workout of the offseason headlined by University of Maryland big man Bruno Fernando. Others in attendance included Shizz Alston, Keyshawn Woods and Lamar Stevens.

Fernando, a 2019 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar award finalist who averaged 13.6 ppg and 10.6 rebounds during his collegiate career, is testing the draft waters after only two seasons at Maryland but is confident he is ready for the challenge.

"I think I already got a lot of things that couls translate right away," Fernando said after the workout on Sunday.

There has been some jostling on mock NBA draft boards with who the Hornets might select with the twelfth pick. Some of the names popping up are Nassir Little of North Carolina, Rui Hachimura of Gonzaga and PJ Washington from Kentucky going at twelve. Others show Romeo Langford of Indina - but Fernando, who felt confident about his performance, could gain momentum as a front-runner to go at that position due to his size and rim protection ability if still available on draft night. Fernando's 6-10 presence would add much needed depth in the post for the Hornets.

The 2019 NBA draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 20th.
