Hornets muster enthusiastic start despite Malik Monk suspension

When the Charlotte Hornets took the floor to face the New York Knicks on Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center they did so without guard Malik Monk. Monk has been suspended indefinitely for violating the NBA's anti-drug program. Hornets' head coach James Borrego addressed the media about the on-going situation ahead of tonight's game against the Knicks.

The league originally announced the suspension Wednesday but did not disclose details of Monk's violation.

The Hornets appeared to bounce back from the news. The somewhat patchwork Charlotte lineup took a 56-46 lead into the half. Terry Rozier led the Hornets first-half scoring efforts with 16 points and 2 rebounds followed by Bismack Biyombo with 9 points and 4 rebounds.

Taj Gibson and Julius Randle led the Knicks with 10 points apiece. #Hornets #Knicks
