Carolina Panthers score big win in the community with Charlotte PAL youth football event
On Wednesday the Carolina Panthers welcomed the Police Activities League of Charlotte youth football teams to Bank of America Stadium for a special practice experience. The event was supposed to host the more than 300 youth players and cheerleaders for a practice session on the new artificial turf surface that was installed at the stadium. The enthusiasm about the event was felt throughout the entire PAL organization. A sentiment echoed by Charlotte PAL Director of Athletics Officer Reggie Gilmore. "Coming out of the stadium tunnel of the Carolina
Panthers is very exciting," Gilmore said.
Unfortunately the lightning in the area as well as a torrential downpour made finishing the event outdoors impossible. The kids did, however, get to meet Charlotte Chief of Police Johnny Jennings for a motivational speech and eat every child's favorite - pizza.
Traditionally the team has been known as the PAL Raiders. This year the name has been officially changed to the PAL Charlotte Panthers. To celebrate the re-branding, the teams and cheerleaders got the opportunity to run out of the tunnel Carolina Panthers style - complete with smoke and high-powered theme music.
Academy Sports + Outdoors provided 14 PAL football coaches with customized Coach’s Kits and six cheer-leading coaches with a $200 Academy gift card. The custom kits will provide football training equipment such as cones, whistles, mouth pieces, first aid kit and much more.
