Carolina Panthers sign Chandler Catanzaro
In a move to sure up their kicking efforts as Graham Gano nurses a knee injury, the Carolina Panthers announced today they have signed kicker Chandler Catanzaro. Catanzaro, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Arizona Cardinals in 2014, played at Clemson from 2010-13 where he posted a career field goal performance 31-of-33 during his final two seasons.
The Greenville, S.C., native made 17 straight field goals without a miss to begin his NFL career, tying the NFL record for most consecutive makes to start a career.
During his 5 NFL seasons, he has a career field goal percentage of 83.2, making 114-of-137 career attempts.
Additionally, Guard Amini Silatolu, who is also suffering from knee issues, has been placed on injured reserve.
