QB coach Scott Turner gives in-depth update on Cam Newton's new throwing motion (VIDEO)

Cam Newton's road to recovery, after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder, has been an arduous task to say the least. Most of the chatter that has been generated during the off-season has been speculation on when Newton would begin throwing a football.

This week Newton took the first steps to do so during the team's mandatory mini-camp and was the number focus of the media.

Newton, who now has a re-tooled throwing motion, threw to static targets on Tuesday and progressed to moving targets on Wednesday. The throwing adjustments engineered by quarterbacks coach Scott Turner are supposed to help Newton keep a tighter range of motion to minimize damage to his shoulder.

"Having him to get out there and show the enthusiasm, throwing the ball - I think he's doing well," Turner said. "I don't know if how he threw is any different than guys I've has in the past but going forward I think he's fully committed to doing everything he can to be the best player he can be and also to take care of himself."

The Panthers will wrap up mini-camp this week. We'll have to wait until training camp to see a greater bounty from Newton's recovery regimen.
