Hornets Winning Streak Ends in 129-115 Loss to Lakers

The Charlotte Hornets (35-40) intended to extend their win-streak to five in-a-row as they began a four game road trip against an upbeat Los Angeles Lakers (34-42) squad.

In a game that saw only four lead changes, Kemba Walker had 24 points and 6 assists and led a Hornets squad that saw six players hit the double-digit scoring mark. But it couldn't make up for the Lakers outstanding shooting performance and the loss of Nic Batum.

But LeBron James (11/19 for 27 pts) and company, who have won three straight at the Staples Center, weren't quite ready to throw in the towel on this year's schedule. The team shot 56 percent from the field and forty-seven percent from 3-point range. The Lakers' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added fuel to the Lakers' fire with 25 points - 6/10 from 3-point range - along with former Charlotte guard Lance Stephenson's double-double (14 pts, 13 rebs). Rajon Rondo added a season high 17 assists.

Despite not being a playoff bound team for the sixth season in a row, the Lakers played like one versus the Hornets on Friday night taking the 129-115 win at the Staples Center.

The Hornets head to the San Francisco bay area to take on Charlotte native Stephen Curry the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
